The City of Tolleson Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Part‑Time Recreation Aide to support our After‑School Program serving children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. This role plays an essential part in delivering a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for youth participants during after‑school hours. Under general supervision, the Recreation Aide will assist in planning and leading recreational activities, supervising youth, and maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere.
Ability to read, write and follow instructions; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Must have a Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License and a Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Level 1 required upon hire. Candidates must be available to work afternoons starting after 3 PM, as well as nights and weekends.
Preferred candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution and prior experience working with youth in grades K-6 in recreational, educational, or community-based settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with children and families. Candidates should be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred, or a willingness to obtain upon hire, and the role requires the ability to lift and move recreational equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs.
This position involves a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, including school settings, recreational facilities, parks, and multipurpose rooms. Physical activity is a regular component of the role, with duties requiring standing, walking, bending, and active participation in youth activities. Evening and weekend shifts may be required to support special events or program needs.
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions are in an office setting. Depending on assignment some travel may be required.
Full Salary Range for Position:$17.22— $24.11 Hourly
