Job summary

The City of Pittsburg is seeking a dedicated Recreation Leader II to join our Recreation Team, delivering general assistance and safety across a range of programs to ensure a fun, inclusive experience for participants.

You will support Tiny Tots, Adaptive Programming, Youth and Young Adult Services, and Adult Sports, collaborating with families, schools, and community partners to deliver engaging, high-quality activities with a focus on safety and customer service.

• Provide general assistance and support for assigned recreation programs and activities.

• Knowledge of leadership, scoring, and team principles in sports (if applicable).
• Availability to work evenings and weekend sporting events.
• Basic office equipment usage (computer/phones).
• Eagerness to learn and willingness to cover other assignments.
• CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety rules and regulations; maintain orderly participant conduct.
• Provide minor first aid to recreation participants/spectators.
• Observe facilities to ensure standards.
• Collaborate with staff for a seamless experience.
• Create a welcoming and positive environment for visitors.
• Takes initiative and completes tasks reliably; punctual attendance.
• Assist in strategies to maintain participant involvement in programs.
• Maintain timely and professional communication with supervisors and team members.
• Communicate with participants, families, and partners.
