Job summary

City of Suffolk, Virginia is seeking a Recreation Leader to assist in implementing recreation programs and activities. The role includes supervising children, registering participants, and handling payments at Creekside, Northern Shores & Oakland Recreation Centers, with split before/after care shifts.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1–2 years in customer service, a valid Virginia driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of customer service experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license.
• CPR & First Aid certifications within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the public in person and by phone; register participants and issue membership cards.
• Set up and take down equipment; monitor inventory and issue athletic gear.
• Lead crafts, games, and other activities for children; assist with program planning and events.
• Perform routine administrative tasks, data entry, record keeping and filing.
• Assist with facility cleaning and maintenance; support special events and youth activities.
