Ken Health in Melville, NY is seeking a full-time Director of Recreation to lead and develop the facility's activity programs, enhancing resident well-being.

COTA background is a plus but not required; at least 2 years in Activities is expected.

A skilled nursing and rehabilitation center is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated full-time Director of Recreation with strong leadership and supervisory skills. The ideal candidate is a team player who works collaboratively and maintains a strong focus on resident well-being.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility's recreational and activity programs.

• Provide comprehensive activity programming for residents and their families.

• Supervise and oversee a small department.

• Determine departmental staffing requirements and ensure adequate activity staff coverage across all shifts.

• Develop, coordinate, and participate in timely in-service training to ensure department staff are properly trained and equipped to perform their responsibilities.

• Order equipment and supplies as needed.

• Conduct periodic rounds to inspect equipment and ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available and functioning properly.

• Maintain strong working relationships with all departments involved in resident care to promote teamwork and comprehensive care planning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a skilled nursing facility.

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) background is a plus, but not required.

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working in an Activities or Recreation Department.
