Job summary

Gulfshoresal in Norman, OK is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to greet guests, answer questions, and support youth and recreation programs after school and on weekends. Work Period:

September-May: Monday-Friday: Shifts between 4:30 pm-9:00 pm or event closing. Saturday-Sunday: Variable shifts between 8:00 am-9:00 pm or event closing. June - August: Similar scheduling to school year hours but potential for more hours between 8:00 am-5:00 pm for special events.

Education and Experience:

Applicant must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. It is preferable for applicants to have experience working or participating in an athletic or recreational setting.

Knowledge of:

Recreation activities and programs.

Skill in:

Oral communication. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and patrons while performing duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

Greet guests and assist with questions. Assist with YFAC sports programs, including setting up courts, keeping score, clock, and books for league games. Assist with YFAC special events, including event set-up, and operations. Performs general janitorial and maintenance duties; this includes indoors and outdoors light maintenance and facility upkeep. Assist with light clerical work and duties as required. Performs other duties as required.

Mental and Physical Abilities:

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of the work day. Ability to lift and carry light (up to 25 lbs.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) supplies, materials and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in a Recreation Center environment; however, time is spent outside exposed to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.
