Job summary

Macon-Bibb County invites applications for a Community Center Coordinator I position. This role supports the supervision and conduct of leisure activities at the assigned recreation center and helps coordinate park and facility use.

The ideal candidate will assist in leading activities for all ages, supervise staff and volunteers, and help manage safety, scheduling, fees, records, and daily operations. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s in parks and recreation preferred.
• At least two years of full-time experience in parks or recreational programming.
• Knowledge of parks and recreational activities and facilities.
• Ability to supervise staff and volunteers; strong record-keeping skills.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting and supervising parks/recreational activities including sports, games, and events.
• Assist in supervising, scheduling and coordinating use of community centers, parks and facilities.
• Demonstrate, organize, teach and lead activities for all ages.
• Assist in supervising personnel and volunteers; maintain safety.
• Assist in collecting/ reporting fees and keeping records.
• Prepare budget recommendations for center operations.
• Complete special projects and other duties as required.
• Manage daily operation and scheduling of facilities; lead classes as needed.
• May work beyond normal hours during inclement weather or emergencies.
