Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting and supervising parks/recreational activities (sports, tournaments, leisure games, arts) and assist in supervising personnel and volunteers.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating the use of community centers, parks, and facilities.
  • Demonstrate, organize, teach and lead activities for all age groups and lead instructional sessions as needed (e.g., Zumba, basketball, fitness).
  • Maintain records, report fees and charges, and support budget recommendations for center operations and programs.
  • Ensure daily operation of recreation programs, organize participants, manage facility use, and supervise equipment usage and safety.
  • May work beyond normal hours during inclement weather or emergencies.

Education, Training and Experience

The Community Center Coordinator I should possess, at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent, a Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, and at least two (2) years or more successful full-time working experience in parks/recreational programming; or any equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the appointing authority.
