Job summary

The City of Harrisonburg's Parks and Recreation Department is hiring a part-time Recreation Attendant - Facilities to greet patrons, answer questions about programs and events, and connect community members with resources. You will process payments, issue receipts, balance daily cash, maintain records, and operate office equipment to support safe, welcoming facility experiences.

Candidates must be at least 16, completed tenth grade (HS diploma or GED preferred); CPR/AED and First Aid

Qualifications

• Completion of the tenth grade and minimal experience in a customer service position required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within the first three months of employment.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings/nights, weekends and holidays.

The Parks and Recreation Department's Recreation Attendant - Facilities position is a year-round part-time position (no benefits) with a preferred hiring rate of $16.44 per hour.

As a Recreation Attendant in Facilities, you’ll play an important role in creating safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experiences for everyone who visits our Parks & Recreation facility. In this customer-focused position, you’ll greet and assist patrons, answer questions about programs, services, and events, and help connect community members with the resources they need. You’ll also help keep daily facility operations running smoothly by processing payments, issuing receipts, balancing daily cash, maintaining records, and using office equipment and computer systems. From promoting upcoming events to monitoring facility activity and helping maintain clean, organized spaces, your work will directly support a positive experience for guests of all ages.

• Completion of the tenth grade and minimal experience in a customer service position required. High school diploma or GED, preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within the first three months of employment.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays, preferred.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:

• Drug screening; and
• Criminal background check.

This position is subject to the City of Harrisonburg's random drug and alcohol testing program.
