Job summary

Fairmont Orchid on Hawai‘i Island invites guests to a luxury oceanfront experience. As a Recreation Attendant you will greet guests, issue towels and equipment, and help with chaise lounge setup, cabana arrangements and kayaks, while delivering warm, personalized service in a premium setting.

You will maintain knowledge of wellness and recreation offerings, upsell services to boost guest satisfaction and revenue, follow safety procedures, and uphold high standards of appearance.

Qualifications

• Ability to share Hawaiian culture and stories with guests.
• Excellent reading, writing, and spoken English knowledge.
• Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages is a plus (ʻOlelo Hawaiʻi).
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Recreation (Tuberculosis Clearance).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Additional certification(s) in Recreation (Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage with guests and assist in all guests’ needs, including towels, chaise lounge covers, chaise lounge setup, cabana setup, snorkel gear, surfboards, boogie boards, floatation devices, kayaks, and instruction on equipment usage.
• Pick up and remove used towels and debris from beach and pool deck areas.
• Provide unique experiences to all guests through warm, personal, and detailed service in a luxury, upscale environment.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the beach and pool through cleanliness, setup, and ambiance control.
• Maintain complete knowledge of wellness and recreation services, activities, amenities, and hotel services/features.
• Upsell and promote wellness and recreation offers to maximize revenue.
• Perform opening/closing side duties and set the beach and pool per standards.
• Be well versed in hotel fire and life safety/emergency procedures.
• Maintain high personal appearance and hygiene standards.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.

Job Description

As a Recreation Attendant you are responsible to provide warm, engaging and authentically local personalized service to all guests who utilize the facilities at the Beach and Pool.

What you will be doing:

• Actively engage with guests and assist in all guests’ needs, which may include, but are not limited to: issuing towels, issuing chaise lounge covers, assist in chaise lounge set-up, cabana set-up , distributing snorkel gear, surfboards, boogie boards, floatation devices, kayaks, and provide instruction for proper usage of equipment.
• Pick up and remove used towels and debris from the beach and pool deck areas throughout the day.
• Provide unique experiences to all of our guests through warm, personal & detailed service in a luxury, upscale, and fast-paced environment.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the beach & pool for our guests through detailed cleanliness, set-up, and ambiance control.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all wellness & recreation services, activities, amenities, and hotel services/features
• Up-sell and promote wellness & recreation offers at every available opportunity in order to maximize sales revenue.
• Perform opening/closing side duties as assigned and set the beach & pool according to standards and procedures
• Be well versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Ability to share Hawaiian culture, stories, and lifestyle with guests in an engaging manner
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Good reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language
• Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage (‘Olelo Hawai’i)
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Detailed & service-oriented with an eye for detail, to be self-motivated and energetic.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Recreation (Tuberculosis Clearance)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Additional certification(s) in Recreation will be an advantage (Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED)

Hourly Rate:$24.81 USD

Visa Requirements:Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
