A position with the U.S. Department of the Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard seeks an individual to manage food and beverage operations within the Morale, Welfare & Recreation Department. The role encompasses administrative and instructional support, facility maintenance, and customer service. This position is located within the Morale, Welfare & Recreation Department, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine. The purpose of this position is to manage and supervise food and beverage operations.
Administrative Support (includes but not limited to): Provides customer service to patrons using the facility, including greeting customers, checking identification cards to ensure only authorized users are entering, issuing and receiving gear/equipment, and registering patrons for facility use, events, and classes. Answers telephone inquiries regarding hours, events, and programs. Completes Daily Activity Reports, handles cash, verifies collections, and deposits funds. Assists in planning, scheduling, and publicizing activities to attract participants. Oversees retail sales related to activities. Evaluates the effectiveness of fitness activities based on participant responses and resources. Monitors patrons, volunteers, and contractors, reporting issues to management. Assists in selecting fitness, sports, and aquatic activities based on resources and participant interests.
Instructional Support (includes but not limited to): Monitors participants in indoor and outdoor activities, including sports events. Conducts instructional classes, performs fitness orientations, and demonstrates proper techniques. Sets up and prepares facilities for scheduled activities, ensuring safety and adherence to regulations.
Facility/Equipment Maintenance (includes but not limited to): Opens and closes facilities and fields at scheduled times. Monitors activity and security, assists users, maintains equipment and facilities, and performs janitorial duties. Reports maintenance issues and unsafe conditions for repairs.

The candidate should possess knowledge of MWR policies, basic arithmetic, cash handling, fitness, aquatics, and sports principles, safe operation and maintenance of fitness equipment, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Skills include providing training and orientation, developing and delivering presentations, and effective communication both orally and in writing.
