The Recreation Assistant is responsible for the direct supervision of clients in their assigned area, enforcing applicable rules, and providing assistance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of college and one year of related experience, or a high school diploma and two years of related experience.

Principal Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing scheduled recreational activities and motivate client participation.
• Monitor recreational activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Serve as a positive role model for client behavior and adhere to Volunteers of America policies.
• De-escalate conflicts among clients through non-violent intervention.
• Instruct groups and individuals on the rules and techniques of various sports.
• Manage recreation equipment, including issuing and collecting.
• Identify and refer clients needing medical, social, or other services to appropriate personnel.
