Job summary

The City of San Diego is seeking Recreation Aides to support city recreation centers, teen centers and after-school programs with games, crafts, sports, and aquatic activities. They will supervise locker areas, register participants, and handle cashier duties.

These part-time, hourly roles may average up to 19 hours weekly, with afternoon, evening and weekend shifts; some periods may include increased hours during holidays and summer, plus required TB testing and standard pre-employment

Qualifications

• Experience assisting with recreational activities and programs.
• Able to supervise and interact with the public.
• Willingness to work varied afternoon/evening/weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist with games, crafts, sports, dance and aquatic activities.
• Supervise locker areas; register participants in classes; perform cashier duties.
• Distribute equipment and perform simple repairs to equipment and facilities; general grounds maintenance.
• Answer questions concerning the golf course and procedures; organize playing groups; balance cash receipts.
