Job summary

City of Berkeley seeks a Recreation Activity Leader in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department to organize, coordinate and lead indoor and outdoor recreation activities at City parks, playgrounds and recreation centers. This role may be assigned to Afterschool Programs, Special Events and Building Monitoring during the school year.

In summer, responsibilities include Tots, Pre-K, Teen programs, Berkeley Day Camp or youth sports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with 2+ years of related experience or college coursework related to recreation/PE.
• Experience leading a variety of athletic and recreation activities is preferred.
• Ability to impart knowledge in fields like dance, arts, or nature study is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Organize, coordinate and lead a wide variety of indoor and outdoor recreation activities at City parks, playgrounds and recreation centers.
• Work with Afterschool Programs, Special Events, and Building Monitoring during the school year.
• Assist with summer programs including Tots, Pre-K, Teen programs, Berkeley Day Camp and youth sports.
