Job summary

Pyramid Global Hospitality seeks a Recreation Activities Specialist for Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico. You will lead water‑sport lessons, demonstrate safe techniques, and tailor instruction to guests’ skill levels to create memorable experiences on our oceanfront resort.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid Navigation License, guest service experience, and the ability to stand for long periods while lifting up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Navigation License required.

  • Flexible to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct water sports lessons (kayaking, paddleboarding, etc.) and demonstrate proper techniques.
  • Enforce safety procedures and monitor conditions during activities.
  • Adapt instruction to the skill level of individuals or groups.
  • Inspect and maintain water sports equipment; report issues.
  • Provide friendly, professional guest service and assist participants as needed.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with participants' goals and skill levels.
  • Maintain records of participant progress and attendance; report incidents.

Recreation Activities

We are looking for individuals with tremendous personalities and great attention to detail to join our team as a Recreation Activities specialist. The ideal candidate creates a memorable experience for our guests through their attention to detail and care they take in ensuring the pool experience is next to none.

Your Role

Instruction and Demonstration

  • Conduct lessons in water sports, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and others.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques and safety procedures to participants.
  • Adapt instruction to the skill level of individuals or groups.

Safety Management

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks during water sports activities.
  • Monitor weather and water conditions to ensure participant safety.
  • Provide basic first aid when necessary.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Inspect and maintain water sports equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
  • Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment and facilitate repairs or replacements.

Customer Service

  • Interact with participants in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Address participant inquiries and concerns and provide assistance as needed.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.

Lesson Planning

  • Develop lesson plans that align with participants' skill levels and goals.
  • Create a variety of engaging activities to keep lessons interesting and challenging.

Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate records of participant progress and attendance.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or hazardous situations and follow appropriate reporting procedures.

Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with any other tasks required within the department.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma; or equivalent.
  • Navigation License.
  • Experience in a guest service role.
  • Ability to work on feet for an extended period.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Someone who can lift, carry and position loads of at least 25 lbs.
  • Availability to work varied shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays.
