Job summary

Summit County Public Health is seeking a Peer Recovery Supporter for a full-time 35-hour-week role in the Harm Reduction program. The position offers opportunities to connect clients with health care, social services, and community resources while delivering harm reduction services such as syringe exchange and naloxone distribution.

The role emphasizes mentoring, advocacy, and supporting long-term recovery, with a schedule of 8 AM-4 PM or 10 AM-6 PM on select days.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years volunteer or paid experience in a peer recovery support position.
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Supporter or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strengths-based, peer-to-peer support to individuals in recovery to promote healthy choices and long-term wellness.
  • Provide substance use disorder case management by assessing needs; making referrals to health care and social services; monitoring and follow-up.
  • Serve as a mentor, advocate, and role model to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery.
  • Conduct harm reduction services, including syringe exchange, naloxone distribution, and overdose education in-office and in the community.
  • Participate in Quick Response Team (QRT) outreach activities with community partners.
  • Maintain accurate project logs, reports, and client data in required systems.
  • Manage inventory of harm reduction supplies.
  • Build working relationships with colleagues, community agencies, and the public.
  • Represent Summit County Public Health professionally at community events.
