Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a part-time Recovery Support Specialist to join the Mobile Crisis Unit. The role focuses on providing crisis intervention and recovery support to clients in the community, with a focus on evenings and weekend coverage.

Responsibilities include engaging clients, relapse education, and maintaining a caseload while collaborating with various community partners.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CADC certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in the human service or social services.
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist certification required or to be obtained within one year of hire.
  • Lived mental health or substance abuse experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing for the state of residency.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to clients experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis via telephone or in person.
  • Provide shift coverage in Mobile Crisis and maintain a caseload of community-based clients.
  • Engage, provide relapse education, and support clients in their recovery journey via telephone or in person.
  • Serve as a mentor to clients and provide ongoing support.
  • Partner with clients to access services and supports to attain personal recovery goals.
  • Demonstrate professional, respectful conduct with clients, families, colleagues, and partners.

Recovery Support Specialist.

Responsible for providing recovery support and crisis intervention to clients living in the community as a member of the Mobile Crisis Unit. Community based and Overnight Shift.

Schedule

Friday & Saturday from 9:00am to 7:00pm

Essential Functions
  • Respond to clients’ experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use crisis via telephone or in person.
  • Provide shift coverage in Mobile Crisis and maintain a case load of community-based clients.

  • Serve as a mentor to clints and provide on-going support.
  • Partner with clients to access the service and supports that will help individuals attain personal recovery goals.
  • Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner.
Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CADC (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the human service or social serviced required.
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist certification required, or to be obtain within one year of date of hire.
  • Lived mental health or substance abuse experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organization, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.
