Horizon House, Inc. in Philadelphia, PA seeks a part-time Direct Care Counselor to provide recovery-oriented mobile and site-based counseling and support. You will work with a caseload, delivering group and individual sessions, crisis prevention/intervention, and educational services.

Purpose: Provides recovery-oriented mobile and site-based individual and group counseling and support services, crisis prevention/intervention, and educational services, to a designated group (‘caseload’) of participants and collaterals such as family members and friends.
Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision from Manager/Shift supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: N/A
Qualifications: Has experience and is willing to self-identify as a current or former recipient of mental health services and/or co-occurring services and is willing to use and share his/her personal practical experience, knowledge and first‑hand insight to benefit the team, service, and participants; has the knowledge and skills to engage individuals around their recovery and establish supportive, trusting relationships with them; has a high school diploma or GED; within the last three (3) years, has maintained at least 12 months of successful full or part‑time paid or voluntary work experience or obtained at least 24 credit hours of post‑secondary education; and/or have passed a recovery/peer specialist certification training. Good oral, written communication, organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently on and off‑site. Possess a valid driver’s license.
Scope: Frequent talking and listening. Manual dexterity, ability to lift, carries up to 25 lbs., folds, kneel, reach, stoop, and bend. Time flexibility, ability to work outside scheduled hours in emergency situations. Local travel required, including transporting program participants by car or van. May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.
