Job summary

Ozark Center in Detroit, MI is seeking an ITCD Certified Peer Support Specialist to provide supportive rehabilitation and recovery services to adults with behavioral health and substance use challenges. Responsibilities include teaching coping skills, accompanying clients to appointments, linking to community resources, and developing WRAP plans with clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Certified Peer Specialist credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing emotional support and guidance to clients.
• Trains, coaches, and supports individuals learning social skills and coping techniques.
• Accompanies individuals to appointments to offer support and advocacy with doctors and therapists.
• Offers community living skills coaching to promote independence.
• Assists with accessing public services and community resources (housing, finances, food, etc.).
• Develops Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) with clients.
• Teaches illness management and recovery skills to increase understanding of mental health symptoms.
