The Vermont Department of Mental Health seeks a collaborative and organized Recovery Support and Crisis Training Manager to lead statewide crisis training and support the integration of peer and recovery services across Vermont's mental health system.
Working under the general supervision of the Crisis Director, you will partner with community organizations, Designated Agencies, peer supporters, police and first responders, and local, regional, and state stakeholders to strengthen services for Vermonters. This position offers the opportunity to combine professional expertise and lived experience to shape training, support providers, and expand recovery-oriented approaches statewide.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re‑employment (RIF) rights.
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Interaction with government staff, representatives of other human service organizations, and families and consumers are frequent and may involve conflict and strong feelings. Tact and diplomacy are needed. In state travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation should be available. Some evening and weekend work and some out-of-state travel may be required on a limited basis.
Master's degree or higher in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field AND one (1) year or more of clinical program experience with people with severe mental illness
OR
Bachelor's degree or higher in clinical social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field AND three (3) years or more of clinical program experience with people with severe mental illness.
Life experience of being diagnosed with mental illness or substance use and recovery.
