Job summary

Surgery Partners in San Antonio, TX, seeks a skilled Registered Nurse for the Recovery Room (PACU) to provide comprehensive post-operative care in a same-day surgery setting. You will administer medications, monitor recovery, document care, and collaborate with surgeons and clinicians to ensure safe patient discharge.

The role requires a nursing degree, an active RN license, and current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care for post-operative patients.
• Monitor and document patients' physical and mental status throughout the recovery process.
• Recognize and report symptoms, reactions, abnormalities, and condition changes to the appropriate healthcare providers.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
• Ensure medication administration follows established protocols, including: Verification of a valid physician order prior to administration; Knowledge of intended actions and potential side effects; Accurate documentation of all medications administered.
• Discharge post-operative patients according to facility policies and procedures.
• Admit patients to the sit-up/recovery area as appropriate.
