Job summary

RiverValley seeks an Adult Peer Support Specialist to provide peer counseling and social support to men in recovery at Jade House in Owensboro, KY. You will draw on your own recovery experience to guide clients, mentor them, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote empowerment and active participation in recovery.

The role involves documenting progress, adhering to confidentiality, and assisting in treatment planning across individual and group sessions, with night shifts

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with mental illness or similar populations.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
• At least 2 years paid or volunteer work with adults with severe mental illness.
• Valid KY Driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer counseling and support using personal recovery experiences.
• Mentor clients to promote hope and empowerment.
• Support the team with MH consumer perspective on symptoms and treatment.
• Help clients identify goals for recovery and reduce self-stigma.
• Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
• Assist in delivering treatment and support services as needed.
• Organize and lead individual/group activities to build social skills.
