Job summary

County of Pamlico seeks a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-oriented support post-overdose in collaboration with PORT Teams. You will engage clients using lived experience, build therapeutic alliances, and connect individuals with resources and service plans in various community settings.

The role emphasizes crisis response, documentation, and coordination with healthcare and social service providers. A one-year grant-funded position with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; prefer associate degree or additional year of college with training in psychology or human services.
• Certification as a Peer Support Specialist; may consider candidates with relevant training and require certification within 6 months of hiring date.

Responsibilities

• Respond to overdose events post medical stabilization and provide rapid, action-oriented support.
• Provide case management, crisis management, individual and group support, and resource allocation for recovery.
• Document interactions and progress in program standards (EMR and databases).
• Collaborate with PORT Team therapist to help clients set and achieve personal goals.
