Job summary

Coastal Horizons in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-oriented support for individuals in outpatient behavioral health and/or substance use treatment. The role leverages lived experience to promote hope, empowerment, and self-determination while guiding clients through recovery resources and community connections.

Qualifications

• CPSS credential in good standing required.
• At least 18 months of lived recovery experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Basic computer skills and documentation in electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals in recovery.
• Assist individuals in developing personal recovery goals and wellness plans.
• Facilitate peer-led support groups in community settings.
• Provide harm reduction, recovery pathways, and wellness education.
• Link individuals to housing, employment, healthcare, and social services.
• Support navigation of behavioral health, medical, legal, and social systems.
• Provide resources for opioid treatment options.
• Maintain accurate documentation per agency/state guidelines.
• Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Advocate for trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
