Job summary

Bay Cove Human Services is seeking a Medication Specialist to lead the program’s medication management system, ensuring safe, effective use of medications for residents in recovery. The role includes training staff, maintaining the med room, and coordinating with providers and pharmacies as needed.

This non-exempt position emphasizes person-centered care, adherence monitoring, and collaboration with the team to improve outcomes within the Residential Recovery Services program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in health and human services, preferably in substance use or behavioral health settings.
• Experience handling and managing medications preferred.
• Attention to detail, coordination with collaterals, and strong follow-through.
• Weekend availability on a scheduled basis, with notice when available.
• Understanding of 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA, including releases prior to disclosure.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Windows, Word, and Google Email/Apps; EHR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial training and ongoing coaching on medication management policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure medication room and ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Transcribe medications into the electronic health record and communicate changes to the team.
• Assist residents in coordinating with providers and pharmacies for refills.
• Observe and document medication self-administration and provide education on adherence.
