Resources for Human Development is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our community-focused team in Raleigh, NC. This full-time role emphasizes recovery, personal experience, and client empowerment, with daily wage access through DailyPay.

You will work primarily in the community, helping clients develop Recovery Service Plans, connect with resources, and maintain CPS certification while documenting progress in a compliant manner.

Qualifications

• Pennsylvania CPS Certification is required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass Act 33 and State Police background checks.
• Self-identified current/former recipient of mental health or co-occurring services.
• At least 12 months of paid or volunteer experience within the past 3 years (one year of recent education may substitute).

Responsibilities

• Serve as an active member of the Recovery Support and CPS Teams.
• Use personal lived experience to model recovery and instill hope.
• Help individuals develop personalized Recovery Service Plans.
• Facilitate identification of strengths, supports, and community resources.
• Document progress per program standards.
• Provide education on recovery tools (e.g., WRAP), self‑help, mutual support, and orientation for new participants.
• Utilize Motivational Interviewing to support behavior change and combat negative self‑talk.
• Support individuals in community integration activities (social, educational, advocacy).
• Assist individuals in setting and achieving recovery goals.
• Refer individuals to supportive services and communicate service successes or gaps to supervisors.
• Maintain CPS certification and attend required trainings.
• Document all services accurately and completely.
