Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) seeks a Peer Specialist to support individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges with recovery-oriented services. You will use your lived experience to promote hope, resilience, and empowerment, helping clients build wellness plans and pursue housing, employment, and education goals.

You will work as part of interdisciplinary teams, facilitate peer-led groups, and advocate for clients while maintaining strict confidentiality and accurate

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Minimum three years of continuous driving experience.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• Able to complete required background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-oriented peer support services to individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges.
• Use lived experience to promote hope, recovery, resilience, and empowerment.
• Assist individuals in developing wellness plans and recovery goals.
• Facilitate peer-led support groups and recovery-focused activities.
• Support housing, employment, education, and community integration goals.
• Engage as a member of interdisciplinary ACT/ACT Plus teams.
• Advocate for individuals and support self-advocacy.
• Prepare for treatment planning and recovery meetings.
• Provide education on recovery-oriented practices and peer support.
• Build community connections and natural support networks.
• Offer outreach and ongoing support services.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation.
