Job summary

Anne Arundel County Department of Health is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist to provide services within the Strengthening Families in Recovery program. This role focuses on engaging and supporting pregnant and postpartum women facing substance use disorders, helping them navigate the recovery process.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma and have a minimum of two years of personal recovery. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Benefits include participation in the County’s health plan and paid leave.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of recovery from a substance use disorder or co-occurring disorder.
• No current involvement with the criminal justice system.
• Must complete peer support specialist training within 18 months if not certified.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support services for pregnant and postpartum women.
• Strengthen protective factors for families while addressing various barriers.
• Facilitate care and streamline transitions between health care systems.
