Job summary

WholePerson Care Clinic (WPCC) seeks a Behavioral Health & Recovery Counselor to maintain a safe, recovery‑oriented environment within a medical respite/recuperative care setting, integrating behavioral health and SUD support for vulnerable clients.

The ideal candidate has experience with homeless populations, trauma‑informed practice, crisis management, and strong teamwork with medical and behavioral health staff to support stabilization, engagement, and continued recovery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Studies, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in SUD treatment, recuperative care, residential programs, or behavioral health settings.
• Certifications: CADTP Registration or Certification (SUDRC or SUDCC) required at time of hire; California Guard Card or PSO Registration provided by company; BLS Certification required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, welcoming environment for clients with empathy, professionalism, and cultural humility.
• Monitor facility grounds to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Identify and report changes in medical or functional status to clinical staff.
• Provide recovery-oriented support, relapse prevention, and harm reduction strategies.
• Coordinate care with medical and behavioral health providers; participate in team huddles and care meetings.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation (shift logs, incident reports, client observations); ensure HIPAA compliance.
