Job summary

RHA Health Services, LLC is hiring a Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist to provide individualized services in the community, promote self-determination, and act as an advocate for clients with mental health or substance use challenges. This role emphasizes strength-based recovery, client empowerment, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

The position requires Peer Support certification and Qualified Mental Health Professional status, with the potential for evening/weekend

Qualifications

• This position requires Qualified Mental Health Professional Status and Peer Support certification or certificate of Peer Support supervision.
• 1 year of experience working with persons with the population supported.
• Must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specific to the required components of the specific service definition including crisis response within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Meeting with clients to provide advice and support per treatment plan.
• Assisting in peer support groups with assigned consumers on a regular basis.
• Supporting consumers in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems.
• Assisting clients by finding resources and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions.
• Accompanying clients to meetings and advocating for consumer needs in the community.
• Fostering development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities.
• Observing behavior and well-being and discussing observations with clients.
• Modeling coping and self-help techniques for individuals or groups.
• Providing advice on empowerment skills and community living.
