Job summary

Acadia Healthcare seeks a dedicated counselor to provide treatment and support for patients recovering from substance use, eating disorders, or behavioral challenges. The role involves facilitating group and family sessions, conducting assessments, and developing individual treatment plans under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma, preferred bachelor's in social/health services, and active licensure or certification for counseling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in social or health services field preferred.
• Counseling field instruction/internship or practicum required.
• Licensure or certification for counseling as required by state.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group and/or family sessions under supervision and document as required.
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions and assist with modifying problem behaviors.
• May perform initial and follow-up assessments for patients.
• May prepare individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of patient care, treatment and incidents.
• Act as liaison between referral sources and patients; provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Plan for aftercare for assigned patients; liaison with insurance carriers as requested.
• Provide case management duties ensuring individualized quality care.
• Evaluate patient needs and determine referrals to other programs if needed.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward patients; prioritize safety.
