Job summary

Advocates is seeking a Counselor to provide cognitive and motivational services to individuals in substance use residential care, helping them reintegrate into the community. The role supports treatment adherence, coordination with the care team, and linkage to ongoing services. Starting rate $20.75/hour with a Tuesday-Saturday schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year supervised counseling experience in SUD.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and deliver strong customer service with attention to detail.
• Preferable experience serving culturally diverse populations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to insured auto.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services including treatment adherence monitoring and referrals to other services.
• Manage risk for assigned clients in collaboration with treatment team recommendations.
• Participate in Individual Service Plan development and coordination with providers.
• Facilitate weekly groups to develop and apply recovery skills.
• Provide discharge-planning coordination.
• Attend required meetings including Site Coordinating Committee and Technical Assistance meetings.
• Attend and participate in required trainings (BSAS and treatment trainings).
• Maintain effective communication with staff and those seeking services to promote good working relationships and customer service.
• Provide linkages to ongoing substance abuse, mental health & medical treatment as indicated.
• Involve collaterals including referral sources and family members.
• Complete all assigned documentation per Advocates, Inc. protocol.
• Attend supervision and staff meetings.
