Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Downey, CA seeks a Recovery Counselor for the Rancho Los Amigos Crisis Residential Treatment—Central Star program. You will provide direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of clients, monitor safety, and support a therapeutic milieu in a 16-bed residential setting.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus experience or on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.).
• One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working in a program serving individuals with mental disabilities OR completion of 20 hours of regulated on-the-job training within the first year of employment.
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Preferred: Valid California Class “B” Driver’s License.
• Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Required within 90 days of hire: ServSafe Food Handler Certification.
• Required within 90 days of hire: First Aid certification (from an approved agency, such as the American Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to meet physical and psychosocial needs of clients through direct and indirect interactions.
• Ensure safety regulations are followed and facilities are clean and safe.
• Assist with client laundry, housekeeping, and other tasks as needed.
• Drive clients in company vehicle when requested and added to Approved Driver list.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for clients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
