Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a qualified addiction counselor to support recovery for residential and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) patients. You will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate discharge planning with the care team and families.

The role requires a Master's degree in a behavioral health field, 24 months of relevant experience, and active LMHP licensure or supervised practice.

Qualifications

  • Twenty-four (24) months of experience with clients who have addictive disorders or specialized training in addiction counseling.
  • Current Louisiana LMHP licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LAC, or LRC) OR PLPC, LMSW, RAC, CAC, and/or CIT under supervision.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, documentation, communication, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based substance abuse counseling for residential and/or IOP patients, supporting recovery and discharge planning.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments and communicate findings to the healthcare team, patients, and families.
  • Identify and respond to abuse, neglect, suicidal risk, and homicidal risk per state regulations.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group counseling sessions as scheduled.
  • Serve as primary counselor for up to 10–12 residential patients or 20 IOP clients.
  • Develop, monitor, and update treatment plans and document progress and discharge plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, care conferences, and discharge planning.
  • Advocate for patients and involve families in care decisions.
  • Coordinate community resources and referrals for successful transitions of care.
  • Provide supervision to unlicensed or inexperienced professionals when licensed and authorized.
  • Maintain HIPAA and safety compliance; follow all policies.
