Job summary

Recovery Café of Clark County (RCCC) is seeking a Recovery Coach to provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery. The role focuses on promoting recovery, removing barriers, and connecting people to resources within a compassionate, community-based setting.

You will use motivational interviewing, share lived experiences, and advocate for self-advocacy while collaborating with RCCC programs. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
  • Experience with individuals living with substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges preferred.
  • Certified for Recovery Coaching and Ethics through CCAR or related recovery training accepted.
  • Personal experience with substance use disorder and/or mental illness on a recovery path recommended.
  • Ability to motivate, de-escalate, and resolve conflicts in a diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one recovery coaching using lived experiences to support participation in recovery.
  • Promote RCCC model and CCAR approaches with radical hospitality.
  • Develop understanding of recovery journeys including trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges.
  • Use motivational interviewing to promote hope and empowerment.
  • Inform participants about service options and care processes.
  • Collaborate to maintain a team-centered culture and respect diverse perspectives.
  • Model and advocate for recoverees and encourage self-advocacy.
  • Attend meetings and trainings related to the role.
  • Coordinate with RCCC programs and other departments as needed.
  • Assist participants with required paperwork and transportation related to recovery goals.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to monthly reports.
  • Understand program funding sources and assist where appropriate.
  • Support daily program activities and promote RCCC messaging.

Job description

Recovery Café of Clark County (RCCC) is looking for someone to join our team as a Recovery Coach. RCCC is a non-profit with a mission to support recovery by empowering people through an ever-growing community of resources, real-time encouragement, and loving, compassion-driven accountability.

About this Role

The person for this position is responsible for providing one-on-one recovery support to individuals in recovery. Primary goals of this position are to promote recovery, remove barriers, connect individuals to resources, and encourage hope, optimism, and healthy living. Ultimately, RCCC is looking for someone who is flexible, team-oriented, can maintain a professional attitude, have good customer service skills, and prioritize goals. Other desirable attributes for this role include enthusiasm, self-awareness, effective communication, organization skills, and a passion for working with people in recovery.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one recovery coaching support by drawing off lived experiences as a peer, to help validate individuals to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery.

Embrace and promote the organization model with radical hospitality, including understanding of the Recovery Café Network and CCAR models.

Grow and maintain a personal and compassionate understanding of the recovery journey (i.e., matters resulting from trauma, addiction, mental health, and/or other struggles such as homelessness)

Provide continuous support to individuals drawing on motivational interviewing techniques in order to promote hope and empowerment.

Work with participants to provide information about service options and the process of care.

Collaborate within program to promote a team-centered culture in which everyone’s point of view, experiences, and preferences are recognized, understood and respected.

Role model and advocate for the recoveree while also promoting self-advocacy.

Attend various meetings and trainings associated with this position.

Connect with other RCCC programs, and at times support individuals coming from PeaceHealth Emergency Department through RCCC Emergency Service Coaches.

Work with participants to fill out required paperwork for the program.

Occasionally assist participants with gaining transportation to activities directly related to their recovery goals and maintain thorough documentation of travel. (This can include connection to public transportation if related to their recovery goals).

Report to supervisors and discuss caseload as well as any issues or barriers that may arise.

Maintain daily documentation, including progress notes and update data for monthly reports.

Maintain a general understanding and awareness of funding sources for the program.

Assist with the various program daily activities and always work to promote the message and services of RCCC.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and experience working with individuals living with substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges.

Must be Certified for Recovery Coaching and Ethics through Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR). Will accept related recovery-based training.

Personal experience with Substance use disorder and/or mental illness and on a long-term recovery path.

Ability to consistently serve as a motivator, conflict resolver, and “de-escalator.”

Ability to work within a diverse team of staff with flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm.

Ability to embody principles of recovery in daily interactions.

Capacity to support and maintain appropriate boundaries with participants.

Currently involved in or having completed a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is helpful, but not a requirement.

Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to collaborate with individuals of culturally diverse populations

Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in the workplace.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from other agencies.

Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize.

Computer skills and current technology experience.
