Job summary

Community Medical Services is seeking a Substance Abuse Peer Support Recovery Specialist to assist patients on their recovery journey across CMS clinics and community settings. The role leverages lived recovery experience to provide guidance, coaching, and support in various contexts, including group and one-on-one settings.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a PRSS certificate, and strong crisis de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Associate degree in Human Services, Counseling or Psychology preferred.
Must be 21 years of age.
Lived experience with substance use disorder and living in recovery is required.
Peer Recovery Support Certificate or PRSS training certificate required.
Experience with substance use disorders or mental health is preferred.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record for 39 months.

Responsibilities

Assist clients in identifying coping techniques, self-help strategies, and social support networks.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.
Draw from personal or family experience to support clients.
Provide clinical support, including assessments, to special populations.
Promote harm reduction and recovery in group settings.
Travel up to 25% to CMS clinic locations and community events.
Communicate CMS program and assessment details to community providers.
