Job summary

Aletheia House is seeking a dedicated Peer Recovery Specialist to provide recovery coaching and support for participants enrolled in Birmingham Drug Court. You will work closely with the Treatment Coordinator and CO0 to advance program goals and client outcomes.

The role requires promoting recovery, connecting clients with resources, and facilitating groups while building community relationships. A valid Alabama driver’s license and sobriety are required for eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of continuous sobriety required.
• Must be eligible to become certified as Peer Support Specialist within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Alabama drivers’ license, transportation, insurance, and good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer mentoring and/or coaching for clients in a substance use disorder program at Birmingham Drug Court.
• Provide recovery resource connecting.
• Facilitate and lead recovery groups as needed.
• Build positive relationships within the community.
• Assist the Therapist in helping program participants find needed community resources.
• Serve as a liaison between participants and other community organizations and resources.
• Assist program participants with solving problems related to recovery.
• Assist program participants with improving job skills.
• Transport participants to appointments and assist with obtaining community services.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of peer support activities.
• Maintain contact with participants between appointments and sessions.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Perform other duties as instructed by the Treatment Coordinator, COO, and/or Executive Director.
