Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital invites applications for a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) in the Mental Health Program. The CPS provides peer support to clients with serious mental illness in inpatient psychiatry, drawing on lived experience to aid recovery.

Under supervision, the CPS leads individual and group sessions, helps create recovery plans, and connects clients with community resources. Schedule: per diem, day shift.

Qualifications

• Identify as a person with lived experience of mental health problems and recovery.
• Knowledge of the recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established approaches.
• Ability to teach basic problem-solving strategies to support self-directed recovery.
• Ability to interact with clients and co-workers from diverse backgrounds with respect.
• Professional documentation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in articulating recovery goals in one-on-one and group sessions.
• Help determine steps to achieve goals with the treatment team.
• Set up and sustain self-help groups and connect clients with community resources.
• Teach problem-solving techniques and coping strategies to clients.
• Share recovery experiences to motivate clients and model recovery.
• Maintain knowledge of current mental health trends and resources.
