Job summary

The Brien Center in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a Recovery Coach to support peers through recovery coaching practices, connecting them with community resources and fostering self-determination. You will promote hope, healthy living, and harm-reduction concepts across diverse populations.

Weekdays, 1st shift. Requires Recovery Coach Certification, BSAS trainings, and strong communication skills; experience with MS Office and community outreach is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Certification from an approved Recovery Coach curriculum to include Recovery Coach Academy.
• Continued BSAS and other accredited Trainings and Certifications as required for the Recovery Coach professional.
• GED/ HS Diploma. 3-5 years of Human Service background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support peers using recovery coach methods to promote self-determination and decision making.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethics and HIPAA in all interactions.
• Connect individuals with recovery supports and encourage hope and healthy living.
• Support community members including those in shared residences and diverse settings.
• Engage with harm reduction and medication-assisted treatment concepts as needed.

General Description:

The Recovery Coach will use aspects of their personal journey and skills learned in formal Recovery Coach Training to support a peer relationship as an avenue to support self determination and decision making. The Recovery Coach will promote recovery, remove barriers and connect people with recovery supports and encourage hope, optimism and healthy living. The Recovery Coach will support people living in the community and in shared residences. The Recovery Coach will support multiple pathways to recovery to include harm reduction and prescribed medication supports as needed. The Recovery Coach will support a diversified community and commit to learning knowledge about equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects for the persons we serve in our community and as employees working in a diverse workforce.

Qualifications and Skills

• Certification from an approved Recovery Coach curriculum to include Recovery Coach Academy within twelve months of eligibility.
• Continued BSAS and other accredited Trainings and Certifications as required for the Recovery Coach professional.
• GED/ HS Diploma. 3-5 years of Human Service background preferred.
• Open to medication assisted treatment and harm reduction concepts and goals.
• Proficient Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Community Resources and support for links in the community.
• Strong listening, oral and presentation (communication) skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community.
• Ability to honor Recovery Coaching Ethics, skills and confidentiality/HIPAA.
• Knowledge of Spanish language, Cultural Competency and ASL considered an asset.
