Job summary

The Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Inc. in Massachusetts seeks an Addiction Recovery Coach to support individuals in recovery through person-centered planning and connecting them to community resources.

Weekday daytime schedule is emphasized with no nights, weekends, or holidays. You will help clients develop wellness plans, navigate systems, accompany to meetings, and link to treatment and recovery services while upholding confidentiality and ethical coaching

Qualifications

• Certification from an approved Recovery Coach curriculum; preferred; must complete coursework within three months.
• Lived experience with recovery and strong personal skills to support others.
• Open to medication assisted treatment and harm reduction concepts and goals.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Strong listening and presentation (communication) skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population.
• Ability to honor coaching ethics and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect with those resources.

Responsibilities

• Interact with persons served individually, in‑person or by phone to aid in recovery.
• Assist in developing a comprehensive wellness plan addressing goals including abstinence and harm reduction.
• Provide information on resources that meet the needs of persons served.
• Help navigate systems, advocate for self, and establish community connections.
• Accompany persons served to meetings (AA, faith-based, criminal justice settings, etc.).
• Assist connecting with treatment and recovery support services.
• Encourage hope, optimism, and healthy lifestyles for enrolled individuals.
• Occasionally transport clients to appointments.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community resources that support recovery and wellness.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation (wellness plans, SALs, calendars, mileage).
• Provide claim information for third party payors.
• Attend supervision sessions and staff meetings; follow Brien Center policies.

Essential Job Functions

• Interact with persons served individually, in-person or over the phone, in order to aid in their recovery from addiction
• Assist persons served in developing a comprehensive wellness plan that addresses their wellness goals including abstinence and/or harm reduction
• Provide information on resources that meet the needs of persons served
• Help persons served navigate systems, self advocate and establish community connections.
• Accompany persons served to meetings in order to enhance their recovery experience (AA, faith-based, criminal justice settings, etc.)
• Assist persons served in connecting with treatment and recovery support services
• Encourage hope, optimism, and healthy lifestyles for enrolled individuals
• Occasionally transport clients to appointments
• Develop and maintain relationships with community resources which support recovery and wellness
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors

Administrative Functions

• Complete all required paperwork i.e. Wellness Plans and other documentation, SALs, weekly calendar, mileage accounting, etc.
• Provide claim information for third party payors.
• Attend all scheduled supervision sessions.
• Participate in staff meetings and other training and workshops.
• Follow all agency policies and procedures.

Other Requirements

• Must have a Massachusetts driver’s license and a registered car
• If in personal recovery, a minimum of one year continuous abstinence
• CORI background check and RMV check

Qualifications And Skills

• Certification from an approved Recovery Coach curriculum; preferred; must be willing to complete Recovery Coach coursework within three months of hire and pursue certification upon completion of coursework.
• Individual with lived experience and possessing strong personal skills and professional peer support skills to self disclose in a manner that is trauma sensitive for the purpose of promoting recovery and wellness for persons served.
• Open to medication assisted treatment and harm reduction concepts and goals;
• Proficient computer skills
• Strong listening, oral and presentation (communication) skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population
• Ability to honor recovery coaching ethics and confidentiality
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect with those resources
