Job summary

Centerstone is a leading nonprofit behavioral health system delivering care that changes people’s lives. The Clinical Counselor provides evidence-based individual and group counseling in office and community settings, helping clients discuss substance use and health impacts while setting recovery goals.

The role includes conducting ANSA/CANS assessments, completing documentation promptly, and collaborating on treatment plans to support recovery and quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred; experience considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience in behavioral health, criminal justice, or social services field is valued, with recovery experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling in office and community settings.
• Facilitate use of family, social, and community resources; advocate with external resources.
• Complete ANSA/CANS assessments and reassessments on time; document within two business days.
• Develop, implement, monitor individualized treatment/discharge plans and participate in treatment teams.

Come talk to us about joining the Centerstone team!JOB DESCRIPTION:SUMMARY OF POSITIONProvides evidence-based individual and group clinical interventions both in the office and community settings to develop trusting relationships with clients. Engage with clients so that they may more freely discuss substance use and its effects on mental and physical health and daily functioning. Aid clients in setting their own goals for treatment, as well as plans to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn healthy coping skills. Build rapport and a therapeutic relationship with clients to introduce them to all the elements of a healthy recovery.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESFacilitates client’s use of family, social and community resources, acting as an advocate with external resources and agencies and self-help programs.Provide individual, group and family counseling covering psycho-educational, addictions, daily living skills and activity therapy.Develop, implement and monitor clinically and fiscally responsible individualized treatment/discharge plans.Participate in treatment team meetings for the purpose of summarizing, reviewing and developing client’s treatment goals, progress and use of services.Maintain necessary communications and reporting with referral sources and other involved parties as approved by the client; provides testimony in court in regard to client’s behavior and condition when requested.Meet billable hour productivity standards.Complete ANSA/CANS assessments and reassessments on time.Complete clinical documentation within two business days of the service provided.Complete treatment plans and other clinical service authorizations in a timely manner.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESQUALIFICATIONSEducation LevelBachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred, preferably in psychology, social work, or a related field. Experience equivalency considered in place of education requirement.Years of ExperienceExperience working and/or volunteering within the behavioral health, criminal justice, or social services field can be considered in place of degree.
