Job summary

Charleston County Government is seeking staff to monitor safety and provide support to patients in a residential drug and alcohol treatment center. The role operates on 12-hour shifts with alternating weekends and holidays; day and night shifts are available.

Starting hourly pay is $16.00 for day shifts and $17.00 for night shifts. Continuation of employment depends on funding. This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and applications review begins immediately.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required with SAS certification within 3 years.
• CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.
• SC Driver's license and clean DMV record required.
• Basic computer skills are expected.
• Experience in a residential treatment setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observing patients, listening to their concerns, recording observations.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Assisting agency medical and nursing staff.
• Transporting patients to and from destinations in a 15-person van.
• De-escalating situations.
• Maintaining a safe and secure treatment environment through inspections and reporting safety issues.
• Role modeling pro-social attitudes and behaviors.
• Assisting patients with activities of daily living.
• Orienting new patients to the treatment program.
• Working with nursing, medical and clinical staffs.

Job description

This position monitors the safety of and provides support to patients in a residential drug and alcohol treatment center. The work schedule is 12-hour shifts and includes alternating weekends and holidays. Day and night shifts are available.

STARTING HOURLY: $16.00 DAY SHIFT STARTING HOURLY: $17.00 NIGHT SHIFT
Continuation of employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding from service, program and agency earnings. OPEN UNTIL FILLED - APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELY
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:

• Observing patients, listening to their concerns, recording your observations;
• Excellent customer service skills;
• Assisting agency medical and nursing staff;
• Transporting patients to and from various destinations in a 15-person passenger van;
• De-escalating situations;
• Maintaining a safe and secure treatment environment through completion of room and belonging searches, safety inspections, and reporting of safety issues;
• Role modeling pro-social attitudes and behaviors to the patient population;
• Assisting patients in maintaining their activities of daily living (eating, hygiene, maintaining a clean living space, etc.);
• Orienting new patients to the treatment program;
• Working collegially with the nursing, medial and clinical staffs.

Minimum Qualifications/Education:

• High School Diploma/GED;
• With agency support, must obtain a Substance Abuse Specialist (SAS) certification within 3 years of hire;
• Will be expected to obtain and maintain CPR certification;
• A valid SC Driver's license;
• Copy of SC DMV 10 year driving record that includes no current suspensions;
• Basic computer skills;
• Experience working in a residential treatment setting preferred.
