Job summary

The Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) assists clients with articulating personal goals for recovery; assisting participants in determining reasonable steps in recovery; and identifying barriers to recovery goals.

A PRS will teach problem solving skills, self-advocacy, and build social supports, coordinating care with the clinical team

Qualifications

• Must have excellent communication skills and meet certification requirements.
• Basic computer literacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Verbalize understanding of recovery concepts and communicate them to others.
• Help clients identify personal strengths in daily living and recovery.
• Assist staff in identifying program elements that support or impede recovery.
• Facilitate safety plans, complete screens and risk assessments as trained.
• Coordinate with clinical teams and community partners to connect to care.
• Coordinate referrals to inpatient or residential treatment as needed.
• Transport clients to appointments and resource access.
