Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare seeks a Peer Support Specialist to leverage lived experience to support patients and families on the EMPATH unit. You will encourage engagement in services, provide resources, and help navigate behavioral health care options within a collaborative care team.

Responsibilities include documenting activities, maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA, and contributing to patient safety and quality initiatives. Must have BLS and at least 1 year of peer support experience.

Qualifications

• One year experience providing peer support in behavioral health.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provides peer to peer support, advocacy, and referrals for patients and families.
• Assists patients in accessing behavioral health services and navigating care systems.
• Maintains confidential documentation and completes billing-related records.
• Participates as a multidisciplinary team member to support treatment goals.
• Upholds HIPAA compliance and hospital safety policies.
