Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Social Services, Office of Recoveries & Fraud Investigations (ORFI) seeks a Recoveries Investigator in Pierre to ensure benefits are used appropriately under state and federal rules. The role requires an articulate, organized professional with integrity and public-service motivation.

Responsibilities include gathering data, preparing action plans and reports, interviewing recipients, and coordinating with program staff to document findings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or work experience in public administration, human services, public health, finance, health care administration, or related field.
• Knowledge of programs within the Department of Social Services such as TANF, SNAP, Child Care, Energy Assistance and Child Support.
• Ability to prepare clear documentation, reports and correspondence reflecting relevant facts.

Responsibilities

• Investigate cases to ensure benefits are used appropriately under federal and state regulations.
• Gather and analyze data, draw conclusions, and report findings with supporting evidence.
• Prepare formal case action plans and reports; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Establish cooperative relationships and work with internal and external partners.
• Read, interpret, and apply relevant regulations; work independently with minimal supervision.
