Job description

Facilitates licensing requirements for Encourage families, including home studies, half-ways and re-certifications. Facilitates approval of alternative caregivers for foster care homes. Assists with adoptions in the department.

All Agency staff are expected to focus on Quality improvement as a part of their job responsibilities, in an effort to make the Agency a safe and healing environment for clients and staff. This expectation includes, but is not limited to: teamwork, improving service delivery, fulfilling department goals, and other job-specific tasks that encourage excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Job-specific Essential Functions Include The Following
  • Makes every effort to maintain a 'team first' spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment - fostering and maintaining appropriate working relationships within the Encourage team, and with other Agency departments, as well.
  • Completes initial home studies for foster care and adoption applicants.
  • Completes additional licensing needs on assigned caseload and completion of documentation in SACWIS (recertifications, approving alternative caregivers, rules investigations, tracking training needs for part-time staff).
  • Attends and participates in Encourage Team meetings.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum, Tier 1 Assessor in State of Ohio with at two years of experience conducting initial foster care and adoption homestudies for a public or private children service agency. Proficient at documenting the homestudy in SACWIS.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write professional quality reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from agencies, families, clients, donors, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet, SACWIS and e-mail. Knowledge of database and design software is helpful.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to drive long distances.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

CANDIDATES must be 21 or older to apply. References, background checks and drug screenings will be completed on all potential candidates. Must have valid Ohio Driver's License and maintain a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable. EOE.

This position is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all of the following: background checks (fingerprints required), drug test, reference checks, Department of Justice National sex offender search, Ohio (and other states of residence) Alleged Perpetrator Search, as well as other checks as required by our licensing agency.
