Job summary

The City of Bismarck is seeking a Records and Reception Supervisor responsible for supervising the Records and Reception staff and administering the records management and mobile field reporting systems in a law enforcement setting.

Primary duties include staff training, system maintenance, ensuring NIBRS compliance, and facilitating data flow to federal and state authorities while supporting background checks and policy updates.

Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree or equivalent related to the field.
  • 3 years+ experience in records/reports environment preferred.
  • U.S. work authorized on a full-time basis (no visa sponsorship).
  • Knowledge of records management principles and crime reporting basics.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Records and Reception staff; train, assign, direct, schedule and evaluate personnel.
  • Administer and troubleshoot the RMS and MFR systems for all staff.
  • Ensure NIBRS compliance and accuracy of monthly data audits.
  • Oversee data collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of information.
  • Manage record retention compliance under state and federal laws.
  • Lead training for new and existing staff on systems usage and processes.
  • Support background checks for permits and licenses as needed.
  • Assist in staffing and performance reporting and department policy updates.
