Salary Range: $40,000 - $43,037

Job Description:

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY), Records Management Unit, has an immediate opening for a Records Clerk who is highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and customer service-focused. The Unit supports internal customers by meeting all records needs, ensuring adherence to the Office's retention schedule, and developing strategies for effective records management. The Records Clerk, under supervision, performs clerical tasks and handles confidential and sensitive information.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Processing, facilitating, coordinating, and transporting customer requests for:
    • Intake of case files and related materials.
    • Retrieval and return of case files and evidence, including pick-up and delivery.
    • Disposal of records and evidence according to retention schedules and legal requirements.
    • Provisioning of records supplies and shredding services.
  • Searching for records in electronic databases and physical filing systems.
  • Data entry in electronic databases and logs for accurate record-keeping and request tracking.
  • Organizing and inventorying evidence.
  • Driving the Unit vehicle to retrieve and return records and evidence across the five boroughs.
  • Assisting with special records management projects.
  • Performing other administrative duties and serving as a backup for other Records Clerks as needed.
Additional Requirements:

Candidates must possess:

  • 1-2 years of clerical/administrative experience with strong customer service, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A valid New York State driver's license in good standing at hire and throughout employment.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Ability to follow policies and maintain confidentiality.
  • Physical ability to lift boxes of 20 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle.

  • Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM.
  • Overtime, rotating schedules, and weekend work may be required.
Additional Information:
  • Current employees: Must have at least 1 year in current role and be in good standing to transfer or promote.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Minimum Qualifications:

No formal education or experience required; ability to follow simple instructions is essential. English comprehension is necessary; foreign language skills may be required for some roles. Physical tasks may be required for certain assignments.
