Overview

Nakupuna Companies is seeking a Reclamation Site Foreman to support Nakupuna Companies on executing stream reclamation, land restoration, abandoned mine land (AML) closures, and other small, heavy civil construction projects. Working experience in operating heavy equipment for earthwork, stream restoration, flood recovery, fire recovery, and AML closure projects is essential. The Reclamation Site Foreman will review and execute project drawings and specifications; manage and direct junior field staff; coordinate subcontractors and suppliers; communicate frequently with the Nakupuna Companies Site Superintendent(s) and/or Project Manager(s), clients, and stakeholders when on site; and remain flexible and resourceful to resolve field issues that may occur.

Responsibilities

Job Duties Include: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Support the planning, scheduling, and executing of field construction projects and tasks, having experience leading and working directly alongside field crews on all field tasks, and providing insight to efficiently completing work and using safe work practices for addressing small, heavy civil projects.
  • Professionally interact with clients in the field, approach others in a tactful manner; react well under pressure; treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; and follow through on commitments.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality; and monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Willing to travel and work away from home for a week or more at a time, capable of standing for long periods, able to lift or move 50 pounds regularly in various terrain, and can easily access sites in remote areas on foot. Exhibit strong mechanical skills, maintain a good driving record, and pay attention to detail while effectively managing multiple field tasks to efficiently achieve project contract requirements.
  • Work well in a team setting, communicate well both verbally and in written form, and take initiative to solve problems.
Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Western U.S. with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as non-governmental groups.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, electronic timesheet and expense report submittals, and computer applications is a plus.
  • Strong teammate, communicator, and problem solver.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as evidenced by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER - desired.

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Strong work experience in the areas noted above, holding a trade school certification in construction management or heavy equipment operation, or earning an associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, sciences, engineering technician, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience operating heavy equipment (excavator, loader, bulldozer) on earthwork projects involving one or more of the following project types: watershed restoration, AML closures, fire mitigation or restoration, water storage/conveyance improvements, site revegetation, stream hydraulic and habitat restoration, stormwater infrastructure improvements, remote roadway construction, or similar work. Familiarity with soft and hard surface trail construction and welding experience is a plus.

Work Location: On-site, reports to Wheat Ridge, CO office.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time along the Rocky Mountain region.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $30.37 to $35.00 (hourly USD). The hourly range displayed represents the typical hourly range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
