Good Samaritan is seeking a friendly, detail‑oriented front desk coordinator to welcome patients and visitors, answer inquiries, and keep the reception area orderly and efficient.

The role involves scheduling appointments, updating patient records and payments, protecting confidentiality, and supporting clinicians by maintaining smooth office operations and accurate data entry.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School graduate
  • Experience: Knowledge of software applications and administrative and clerical procedures
  • Proficient in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other language skills
  • Proficient in keyboarding, data entry and business writing

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and visitors with greeting and manages reception.
  • Schedules appointments to optimize satisfaction and provider time.
  • Notifies provider of patient arrival and delays to keep on schedule.
  • Assists patients by addressing anxieties and questions.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and billing information; collects and records patient payments.
  • Maintains office supplies and equipment by anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt of ordered supplies.
  • Protects patient confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Follows policies to maintain operations and reports changes.
  • Distributes incoming/outgoing inter-office mail.
  • Files and retrieves patient records to ensure availability.
  • Assists patients in distress during emergencies.
  • Contributes to team with related tasks as needed.

Job description

Essential Job Duties:
  1. Welcomes with greeting, patients and visitors; answers or refers inquires; maintains the reception area.
  2. Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  3. Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient’s arrival; informing provider and patients of delays.
  4. Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties; answering patients’ questions.
  5. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and billing information; collects and records patient payments.
  6. Maintains office supplies and equipment by anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt of ordered supplies.
  7. Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  8. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
  1. Gets and distributes incoming, outgoing and inter office mail.
  2. Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  3. Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  4. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
