SGMC Health is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to support the Orthopedics team at SGMC Surgery Center in Valdosta, GA. You will prepare patients for examinations, assist with procedures, transcribe notes into the EMR, and handle scheduling and precertification for surgeries.

Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, Monday-Thursday 8AM-5PM, Friday 8AM-12PM
Assist APRN and physician by preparing patient for examination. Assist with patient care including procedures. Must be able to accurately transcribe into patient’s electronic medical record. Performs clerical duties and must be able to operate office equipment, computer. Assist in scheduling and obtaining precertification for surgeries. May perform phlebotomy with no waived testing.
Works primarily in the medical office setting, consistent shift and unit. Requires moderate to frequent lifting (excess of 50 lbs.), bending, and assisting in same, using correct techniques. Must be able to operate office equipment, computer terminals and keyboards, computerized lab equipment. Likely to be exposed to blood, body fluids and infectious diseases. Requires extensive walking during shift.
